Isle of Wight Building Safety

Association

(IWBSA)

IWBSA Offices located within Landguard Manor

History

The Isle of Wight Building Safety Association has been in operation for a number of years. It began in 1967 when a small number of local Island builders decided that they would benefit from some health & safety awareness and day-to-day assistance; which was quite a forward thinking idea at the time, as the primary piece of legislation the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 didn’t actually arrive on everyone’s doorstep until 1st April 1975.

Present

Since then legislation has changed, grown, expanded and increased beyond recognition.

The IWBSA continued to grow and build over the years on those first steps, changing and expanding its services, providing a professional range of Health & Safety services to the Construction Industry and associated trades.

We are still a “not for profit” organisation, who are based in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, covering a variety of areas of health & safety for Member Companies only.
